Texas Thorium Partnership

Houston, TX, February 18th, 2019 - Texas Thorium LLC today announces that it is entering into partnership with Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, to jointly develop a simpler, safer, cleaner, and cheaper energy source using thorium nuclear reactors.

Archaic and aging power plants burning fossil fuels are spewing pollution into the atmosphere and on the ground of the planet. Wind and solar energy sources can be sporadic, unreliable, costly to manufacture, and geographically limited. Traditional uranium nuclear energy, while inherently reliable, has developed a reputation for being dangerous and for producing large quantities of hazardous waste.

While traditional nuclear power plants consume uranium to generate power, thorium reactors consume a completely different material: thorium. While similar in concept, there are dramatic differences between these two nuclear fuels. Uranium reactors generate large quantities of hazardous waste. Thorium reactors do not. Uranium reactors produce material that increases the risk of nuclear proliferation. Thorium reactors do not. Thorium is more abundant and less radioactive than uranium. Even from a conservative estimate, thorium is 100x more efficient than uranium, produces 100x less hazardous waste, and generates 1 million times less CO2 and ground wastes than coal.

Texas Thorium LLC and Texas A&M University are working together right now to develop thorium into a workable green energy source. All development is taking place in Texas at the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), and under proper regulatory oversight. While world leaders discuss several very costly and long term solutions, Texas Thorium and TEES are moving forward right now with a real-world cost-effective solution for generating energy with a simple, safe, clean, cheap thorium nuclear reactor energy source.
